Updated on:

Welcome to the article about the Unison Audio Midi Wizard 2.0 review. In this article, we will talk about the features, pros and cons, price, and other related information about Midi Wizard 2.0. We will also compare Unison Midi Wizard 2.0 with the old version and find out whether it is worth it or not.

With that said, without further delay, let us jump right into the review.

What is Unison Midi Wizard 2.0?

Unizon Midi Wizard 2.0 is a VST design developed by Unison. It is based on Artificial intelligence that generates Chord and Melody Midis. Unison can generate chord and melody midi files in 32 different genres. Compared to the old version of Midi Wizard, the Midi Wizard 2.0 is far more advanced and can generate much better melodies and chords.

Unison Midi Wizard 2.0 also has a built-in synth sound library and can be lined with Unison Bass Dragon to generate complete melodies in seconds. In the next section, we are going to look at various features of Midi Wizard 2.0.

Unison Midi Wizard 2.0 – Features

Although Midi Wizard 2.0 has some great improvements compared to the older version, it is still not cut out for producing the highest quality music in some genres. There are a few exceptions like hip-hop and R&B where you might get a good inspiration. But let us look at some of the features of Midi Wizard –

  • AI-based midi generator trained on a larger database of midi files.
  • Built-in ROM Player with many sounds. Extra expansion packs are available.
  • Built-in effects for the synth sounds.
  • Drag and drop midi files.
  • Render and export audio files within the DAW.
  • Clean and intuitive interface.
  • New music genres(32).
  • New Hybrid mode along with the old chord and melody.
  • Scale Lock
  • Smart Transpose, velocity, and swing controls.

Price of Unison Midi Wizard 2.0

The real deal breaker of Midi Wizard 2.0 is its pricing. Just like the other plugins of Unison Audio, Midi Wizard is also overprized for the functions it has.

You can purchase Unison Midi Wizard 2.0 for one-time price of $297. However, Unison also has a 3-month EMI option with a $119 per month price. This is a rather expensive plugin. With this price, you can purchase multiple music theory courses on Groove 3 and Artmaster(seriously, if you ask my opinion).

Unison Midi Wizard 2.0 – Pros and Cons

Now let us look at the pros and cons of the Unison Midi Wizard 2.0. Although the concept of the plugin is excellent and it gives pretty decent outputs, especially for the current upgrade, it is not the ultimate solution for your music theory problems. Here are some of the pros and cons of the Unison Midi Wizard 2.0-

ProsCons
32 Different music genresPretty generic melodies and chords for some genres
In-built synth and sound collection. The sounds are generic and do not have a synth engine. It also needs a heavy CPU.
Pretty good output for some genres.Genres like cinematic and rock do not have good enough output.
Rebuilt AI Engine with better midi quality and musicality.Very expensive
Built-in EffectsLack of Human touch in melodies and chords.
Great for generating ideas. Not good enough for producing the highest quality melodies and chord progressions.

Final Thoughts

Although Unison Midi Wizard 2 is a great VST Plugin, for this price range, I will not recommend purchasing it. You can rather get pro music theory courses for the same prices on platforms like Groove 3 and write far better melodies.

The most interesting part of music production is the expression of one’s own emotions and thoughts. AI melody and chord generators take away those emotions from the music and make it soulless. However, I would recommend the plugin if you want to get ideas and get over creative blocks.
